National Capital Region Transport Corporation approved the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Rapid Rail corridor, which entails a capital investment of US$3.2bn.
Travel times between Delhi and Meerut will be 48 minutes by express trains and 60m by normal trains.
Completion is expected by 2024.
