The highway will be widened from two to four lanes between Haridwar and Nagina, in the states of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. The National Highway Authority of India is client for the project, which has an execution period of 30 months followed by four years of maintenance.

Work includes the construction of 12 primary and 12 secondary bridges as well as a bridge over rail tracks. The structures have a total length of 4.3km and include a 1.2km-long bridge with 37 spans.

The project also involves the construction of five bypass with a total length of 16 km, and the creation of service roads, parking for heavy vehicles, sleeping areas and toll plaza.
