Construction of Ireland's longest cable-stayed bridge has begun. The 465m-long bridge has a main span of 230m over the River Suir and is a key element of a bypass for the city of Waterford.
Waterford Joint Venture is the project's contractor. The bypass and bridge are due for completion by 2010 as part of the government's Transport 21 investment programme
