NEWS / Work starts on Indus River bridge

Pakistan's president Pervez Musharraf officiated yesterday at the ground-breaking ceremony for a new bridge over the Indus River to improve links between Larkana and Khairpur. The bridge will half the journey between the two from its present 115km. The scheme includes 43km of approach roads as well as the two lane bridge. The National Highways Authority has said that the project is due for completion by the end of 2009.
