Jacobs Project Management is to start negotiations next week to confirm its appointment as construction manager for the Fort Hamer Bridge, which will cross the Manatee River in Florida, USA. Manatee County ranked Jacobs first among more than a dozen applicants that submitted proposals for the US$20 million project. Jacobs already has successful experience of working with the project's designer, URS, said the county, as well as offering the lowest ratio of fees to project costs at 7% and the second fastest construction time at 21 months. Balfour Beatty Construction came second, offering figures of 11% and 20 months.
