The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) in the USA has identified Ames Construction as the apparent low bidder for the Interstate 90 Dresbach Bridge project.
MnDOT will take the next 30 days to review Ames Construction’s US$187.5million proposal to ensure all work, costs and goals meet standards before officially awarding the contract.
The project includes constructing a new I-90 crossing over the Mississippi River and reconstructing the Highway 61/14 and I-90 interchange.
The I-90 Bridge spans the Mississippi River between Dresbach in Minnesota and La Crosse in Wisconsin. It was built in 1967 and is a 759m-long, four-lane bridge. It has narrow shoulders that cause lane closures when vehicles are stranded or during routine maintenance operations. Current interchange geometry creates difficult and unsafe traffic movements for commuter traffic.
