The firm will provide specialised technical assistance for the project during the design, construction, and commissioning.
The two-tower cable-stayed bridge will be built on the north side of the existing Bridge of the Americas, connecting west Panama with Panama City. The cable-stayed section will be 1,120m long - including a 540m-long by 54m-wide main span across the Panama Canal - and there will be 1,500m of approaches. It will carry three lanes of traffic in each direction as well as a two-way railway and a pedestrian and bicycle path.
It will be TYLI’s third major bridge project involving crossings over the canal. Over the last three decades, it has been assisting Panama’s Ministry of Public Works (MOP) with the widening and retrofitting of the Bridge of the Americas and facilitating ongoing repairs and maintenance. The firm was also responsible for the feasibility study, preliminary design, and final design of the Centennial Bridge, also known as the Panama Canal Second Crossing, which opened to traffic in 2004.
