Plans dashed for new Ovingham bridge

Nottingham County Council in northern England is to study traffic movements across a section of the River Tyne with a view to making better use of existing crossings after a report by Faber Maunsell found it unlikely that a new bridge would secure funding.
Faber Maunsell had studied possible options for the new bridge at Ovingham. The report stated that all five options had low scores against national and regional strategy objectives and that a new bridge would be very unlikely to receive the necessary funding.
