Structural Systems repairs West Gate Bridge piers
Published:  March 04, 2008

The piers of one of Australia's longest bridges are being refurbished by Structural Systems. West Gate Bridge carries up to 180,000 vehicles a day between Melbourne's western suburbs and the city of Geelong.

VicRoads carried out a condition survey which showed areas of spalling, delamination and cracking. Structural Systems was awarded a contract for the repairs and application of an anti-carbonation coating to piers under the bridge's steel section. Project completion is due in June.
