Deck placement starts at Gateway Bridge
Published:  March 18, 2008

The first two deck segments of the second Gateway Bridge in Brisbane, Australia, were lifted into place today. The 80t concrete segments form part of the 750m northern approach to the bridge.

On average, 16 of the match-cast segments will be lifted every week. Construction of the northern approach will take 10 months, then work on the southern approach will begin.

The US$2.8 billion Gateway Upgrade project is a Queensland government initiative, which is being delivered by Queensland Motorways with design, construction and maintenance by the Leighton Abigroup Joint Venture.
