Mexico to invite highway tenders
Published:  March 28, 2008

Mexico's transport and communications ministry, SCT, has announced a US$421 million highway scheme to connect Oaxaca city to coastal towns. The 283km project will include 78 bridges and three tunnels.

It will be built under a public-private financing scheme. Tendering is set to start in April, with the contract awarded before the end of this year.

Construction of the project is expected to create between 4,000 and 5,000 direct jobs as well as those gained through boosts to economic activity, tourism, agriculture and industry.
