Chile starts tender process for Bío Bío bridge
Published:  April 07, 2008

Chile’s Ministry of Public Works is inviting expressions of interest for construction of the fourth bridge over the Bío Bío River. The project for the 2km-long bridge and some 30km of road is worth an estimated US$250 million.

The the scale of the work has prompted the Ministry to carry out prequalification to narrow down the potential bidders. Preliminary technical information will be made available. Tenders are expected to be invited in the first half of next year.

The bridge is expected to reduce the amount of freight using the Juan Pablo Segundo Bridge by some 6,500 lorries a day.
