Work set to start on Napa bridge

TY Lin International and the William MacDonald are designers of the new First Street Bridge, to be built by American Civil Constructors in the City of Napa.

American Civil Constructors has submitted the lowest of six bids to replace the First Street Bridge over the Napa River in the City of Napa, California. Design engineer for the new bridge is TY Lin International and the architect is William MacDonald.

The new bridge has been designed to cater for local flood conditions, as the original had been identifed as a barrier to flows. It stands some 1.5m higher than the original. Features of the new design include illuminated glass panels and lighted obelisk columns.

Construction of the US$10.36 million project is due to start on site next month.
