Repairs start on Honoré-Mercier Bridge
Published: April 29, 2008
The Government of Canada has announced the award of a contract for replacement of the deck of the Honoré-Mercier Bridge in Quebec. The contract was awarded to the Mohawk Bridge Consortium, under a procurement strategy for aboriginal business. The contract was preceded by an agreement between Transport Quebec and Kahnawake Mohawk Council. Work on the first phase will begin soon. The US$65 million first phase will strengthen the steel structure and replace the bridge deck on the elevated access ramps. The work should be completed in 2010. Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated, a Crown corporation, will manage the project. |
