Poole delays tendering on Twin Sails Bridge
Published:  April 29, 2008

Contractors shortlisted for the Twin Sails Bridge in Poole, southern England, have been stood down pending the outcome of negotiations betwen the council and a landowner, JJ Gallagher.

“We are continuing to hold positive negotiations with JJ Gallagher with the aim of securing an appropriate financial contribution towards the cost of construction of the Twin Sails Bridge," said Borough of Poole Councillor Ron Parker. "While these negotiations continue, the Council has taken the decision to stand down its current shortlist of contractors who have expressed an interest in submitting a tender for the project. Once an appropriate financial contribution has been agreed with the landowners, the Council will restart the procurement process and invite a fresh round of bids for tender from contractors."

Detailed designs for the bridge and preparation work for its procurement have been completed. Consents to build the bridge are also in place.
