Leonhardt, Andrä wins Swiss design competition

Leonhardt, Andrä und Partner has won the design competition for a bridge to cross the 200m-deep Tamina Canyon in the Swiss canton of St Gallen.
Steep slopes, the height above the valley floor and the geological conditions provided challenges for the designers. The winning design for the Tamina Bridge is a prestressed concrete structure with a 265m arch designed to fit in the surrounding landscape while keeping its own distinctive identity. |
