Fehmarnbelt treaty to be signed next week
Published: August 28, 2008
Transport ministers from Germany and Denmark will meet in Copenhagen on 3 September to sign an agreement to build the Fehmarnbelt Link linking the two countries. The preferred solution is for a 19km bridge, with a 3,208m-long cable-stayed structure as the main section. The current design is for three main spans of 724m, though the exact navigational clearance is yet to be determined. Completion is due in 2018, with construction estimated to take seven years. |
