Russian president signs bridge decree

Russia's president Dmitry Medvedev has signed an instruction for the building of a major suspension bridge linking Vladivostok to Russky Island. The 3,150m-long bridge is intended to provide access to the 2012 APEC summit, which is to be held on Russky Island. Audit chamber chairman Sergei Stepashin has undertaken to keep a close watch on spending for the bridge, whose cost has been estimated at US$1 billion. |
