Parsons Brinckerhoff wins New Jersey contract
Published:  May 27, 2009

The New Jersey Turnpike Authority has awarded Parsons Brinckerhoff a construction supervision contract for a new bridge carrying the Garden State Parkway over the Mullica River in Port Republic, New Jersey.

The new bridge will be 375m long and will consist of prestressed concrete spliced girders with a 230mm high-performance concrete deck.

It will be built parallel to the existing bridge and is intended to allow for the future widening of the Parkway to three lanes in each direction from the existing two.

PB will also supervise the rehabilitation of the existing structure. This will entail a new high-performance concrete deck and parapets, steel repairs and bearing replacements.

Construction of the new bridge is scheduled for completion in late 2010, with rehabilitation of the existing structure to be finished one year later.
