Bandra Worli Sea Link

Mumbai's Bandra Worli Sea Link is being inaugurated today following a laser, lights and fireworks show put on last night by the contractor, Hindustan Construction Company.

The 5.6km bridge, which opens to traffic tomorrow, includes 500m-long and 350m-long cable-stayed structures on the Bandra and Worli sides respectively.

It has been designed to overcome congestion, as there is currently only one link between the western suburbs and the island city of Mumbai.

Client for the scheme is Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation, which appointed Dar Consultants to carry out design, checking and supervision work.
