Fugro wins Ismit Bay contract
Published:  December 04, 2009

The NÖMAYG joint venture has awarded Fugro a US$18 million contract for site investigation and consultancy work on Turkey's Ismit Bay Bridge.

The work begins immediately and will extend into the third quarter of next year. It will involve onshore and offshore geophysics, drilling for samples, seismic studies, geological mapping, geotechnical laboratory testing and earthquake engineering.

The suspension bridge is part of the 421km Bursa-Balikesir-Izmir highway project and lies in the North Anatolian fault zone, one of the world's most active plate boundaries.
