Tenderers request further Forth ground investigations
Published:  February 02, 2010

A third series of ground and marine investigations for the Forth Replacement Crossing is set to begin later this month on behalf of the two consortia seeking to build the bridge.

Forthspan and Forth Crossing Constructors are allowed to request the supplementary investigations from Transport Scotland to help develop their bids as part of the competitive tendering process. Tender submissions are due towards the end of the year.

Transport Scotland's consultant Jacobs Arup is collating the investigation requests from both consortia and will organise the works.

Ground investigations south of the Forth will be conducted by BAM Ritchies while Vinci Norwest Holst will carry out work associated with the northern connecting roads. Glover Site Investigations will undertake the marine works.

Meanwhile, the Forth Replacement Crossing Bill that seeks authority for construction of the scheme is being progressed through the Scottish Parliament.
