Major bridge launch begins in Scotland
Published:  February 04, 2010

Contractors working for Transport Scotland have begun a major two week engineering operation to launch the Port Eglinton Viaduct as part of a scheme to install a "missing link" between Glasgow's M74 motorway and the M8.

A 135m span of the 750m-long viaduct is being launched over the main West Coast railway line and a street. The work is taking place at night to avoid disruption to rail services.

Interlink M74 Joint Venture is contractor for the project.
