Port Mann Bridge

Partnerships British Columbia has announced that the Port Mann Bridge and Highway 1 improvement is a third complete, with the project on time and on budget.

The announcement was made by premier Gordon Campbell and transportation and infrastructure Minister Shirley Bond as the latest precast segments were being installed on the bridge in western Canada. A custom-made launching truss is being used to install the 1,158 precast concrete segments.

The crossing is made up of a 850m-long cable-stayed section and precast concrete approaches of 1,170m. The cable-stayed section has a main span of 470m.

Project completion is due in 2012, a full year ahead of schedule. The bridge is being built by a joint venture of Peter Kiewit Sons and Flatiron Constructors Canada. It was designed by TY Lin International.
