Series of contracts awarded for Delaware toll bridges
Published:  July 27, 2010

Contracts awarded yesterday by the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission in the USA include the appointment of Pennoni Associates to evaluate rehabilitation options for the Easton-Phillipsburg (Route 22) Toll Bridge.

Under the US$764,000 contract, Pennoni will carry out an in-depth assessment as well as a scoping and conceptual study of improvements to the main river bridge, approach structures, toll plaza area and the New Jersey and Pennsylvania approach roadways.

The main river bridge consists of a single 165m through-truss span.  There also are two approach structures: a five-span plate-girder viaduct and a prestressed concrete box beam span.

Hill International was also awarded a US$320,000 construction management and inspection contract for the Washington Crossing Toll-Supported Bridge.

Construction and engineering contracts have also been awarded this week for the repair and rehabilitation of substructures at 12 of the Commission’s 20 bridges.  A US$727,000 engineering contract to provide construction management and construction inspection services was awarded to Trumbull Construction Management Services. Construction contracts worth US$4.1 million and US$5.9 million were awarded to AP Construction and Kyle Conti Construction repectively.
