Major designers shortlisted in Scottish competition

Glasgow City Council has shortlisted six consortia to take part in the design competition for a US$63 million scheme to provide a landmark pedestrian/cycle bridge over the River Clyde and regeneration of the surrounding area.

"This is a hugely prestigious project and I’m delighted that it has attracted such interest," said leader of Glasgow City Council Charlie Gordon. “The six consortia include some of the very best engineers and architects in the field.”

The deadline is October, and the council expects to make a decision in November. Work should start on site in mid-2004, and be completed by 2007.

The shortlisted teams are:
