The Rhode Island Department of Transportation has invited registrations from companies interested in bidding to demolish the old Jamestown Bridge. The unusual demolition scheme includes relocating 20,000m³ of concrete for use as artificial reefs. The bridge was built in 1940 and closed to traffic in 1992 with the opening of its replacement.
