Cantilever construction progresses at Four Bears Bridge

A key stage has been reached in the construction of the cantilever deck units for the Four Bears Bridge in North Dakota, US. Eight pairs of segments have now been erected, marking the half way stage in the first cantilever operation for the 15 span bridge. The balanced cantilever length has reached 47.8m from tip to tip and when completed it will measure 95.6m. The concrete box girder bridge will have 13 main spans of 96.3m and end spans of 59.7m, giving a total length of 1.37km. It crosses Lake Sakakawea in the northwestern corner of the Fort Berthold Reservation near New Town. |
