The Spanish rail authority Adif has allocated US$7.2 million to the conservation and maintenance of its metal bridges over the next two years.

The network has 535 metal or mixed bridges, 13 of which are on high-speed lines. The planned work includes inspection and analysis, followed by renovation, cleaning, repairs and reinforcement work. The aim is to maintain reliability and functionality, while protecting heritage.

Adif is seeking a contractor for this work, which requires specialist equipment and materials, given the scope and complexity.
