Terwillegar Park Footbridge

The governments of Canada, Alberta and Edmonton celebrated the completion of the Terwillegar Park Footbridge, which has been built by Graham Infrastructure to a design by Stantec.

The US$18.5 bridge connects to the existing river valley trail system through the recently completed West End Trails. It links Terwillegar Park in the southwest to the Oleskiw trails on the north side of the North Saskatchewan River. The two initiatives are part of the broader River Valley Alliance capital plan to increase accessibility and connectivity to the river valley.

The minimalist profile of city’s first stressed-ribbon bridge is designed to provide a striking crossing of the river valley. “An added benefit of the design of the stressed ribbon bridge is that it is an architectural complement to the natural surroundings of the river valley,” said Chris Sheard, River Valley Alliance Board chair.
