The Indian Army has boosted its capabilities with a new modular bridging system designed by DRDO and produced by Larsen and Toubro (L&T).

The army will take on 41 mechanically launched bridging sets, worth a total of US$300 million. Each span measures 46m and they can be used to cross canals and ditches and are designed for rapid deployment and retrieval.

Until now, the Indian army has been using manually launched medium girder bridges.
