It has reached an agreement with Or Kim Peow Contractors (Private) Limited to end the contract for the TPE-PIE Changi viaduct.

There had been a fatal collapse at the site last summer when a section of deck was being cast. At the time of the accident, 11 people were working on top of the structure; one was killed and the other 10 injured.

The replacement contractor will be responsible for completing the construction of the viaduct, including the demolition of any structures deemed unsafe. In the interim, the site will be maintained by LTA’s term contractor until the replacement contractor is appointed.

LTA will call a new replacement tender later this month and plans to award this contract by the fourth quarter of 2018.

It said that it will continue to work closely with its contractors to ensure that they comply with workplace safety and health requirements.

The indicative completion date for the project is the first half of 2022.
