The German town of Lauffen am Neckar has chosen a minimalist steel and concrete trough pedestrian bridge design by schlaich bergermann partner to connect the town hall with the rest of the city.

The design needs minimal foundations, to avoid disruption to the historic site. It consists of a hinged single-span with a shape that is reminiscent of the original historic Rathausbrücke.

The town is also rebuilding its canal bridge, which is presently undergoing stabilisation work.
