MCM Construction was the apparent low bidder, with a bid of US$177.8 million which was more than US$20 million below the US$198 million estimate. The "touchdown" contract involves westbound and eastbound connections between the bridge and the toll plaza. Caltrans also received bids from a joint venture of FCI Constructors and Manson Construction (US$194.5 million), Tutor Saliba (US$195 million) and Kiewit Pacific (US$200 million).
