Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) has awarded the construction contract for the new Stinson and Vatuwaqa bridges to China Railway 14 Group.

Award of the contract is in line with a commitment by the Fiji government and FRA to deliver the two bridges to connect routes to and around the capital city, Suva. The two existing bridges have been closed for several years.

An aid grant from China of approximately US$14 million will see the new bridges built within 29 months, with work on site beginning in the first quarter of 2016.
