The new bridge will cross Brunei Bay to link the districts of Brunei-Muara and Temburong. Travelling between the two currently involves a sea crossing of up to two hours or a three to four hour journey by land.

Arup is the consultant on the project.

Daelim had competed against Chinese companies to win the contract, which it hopes will be followed by additional projects in Brunei, where it is already building a cable-stayed bridge. The contract for the Sungai Brunei Bridge was awarded in 2013.
