The 312m-long, 162m-high tied arch span had been manoeuvred into place last year in a dramatic operation using a system of barges, anchors and strand jacks. Choice of the tied arch enabled a 300m clear span for shipping as well as the ability to minimise disruption by building the bridge at the side of the river and floating it into place. Client for the work is Hungarian National Motorways and the contractor is a consortium of Vegyepszer and Hidepito. Fomterv designed the bridge.
