Delhi to strengthen highway
The National Highway Authority of India, New Delhi, is to take up strengthening of the existing two-lane carriageway and widening it to a four-lane divided carriageway on 34km of NH-4 outside Pune City in Maharashtra state. Bids were invited from construction contractors to undertake the work which also includes construction of major bridges and flyovers on the project road section. The scheme is to be completed within 27 months from the date of award of contract. *New Delhi is drawing up plans to implement the phase II project of the North, South, East and West highway corridors covering 6,700km after starting work on the first phase. The project is to be split into between ten and 20 sections, and those which are viable will be implemented on BOT basis using private sector finance.
