A consortium of five consultants including Ove Arup & Partners Hong Kong and Cowi is reported to have won the contract to design the 29.6km-long Hong Kong - Zhuhai - Macau Bridge. The team also includes three companies from mainland China - CCCC Highway Consultants, CCCC First Harbor Engineering and the Shanghai Tunnel Engineering & Rail Transit Design & Research Institute.
Three design bids had been shortlisted.
Construction is expected to begin in December, with completion due in 2015. The project's cost is estimated at US$10.5 billion and the value of the consultancy contract has been reported at US$25.8 million.
Arup has already been working on the project as consultant for the investigation and preliminary design.
