The last of 1,766 precast concrete segments for Hong Kong's US$141 million Lai Chi Kok Viaduct has been lifted into place. Contractor for the project is Acciona. Supervising engineer and joint venture member Hyder Consulting has overseen the glueing and stressing of the 100t segments which have been positioned using a 172m-long specially-adapted launching gantry weighing more than 900t. Lai Chi Kok Viaduct is part of the Route 8 Project which will link Cheung Sha Wan in the south and Butterfly Valley in the north when it is complete in 2007.
