German rail operator Deutsche Bahn plans to replace 40 bridges over the Easter weekend as part of a concentrated programme of work at sites nationwide.
In total, some 70km of track, about 80 points and roughly 200,000 sleepers are being replaced as well as the 40 bridges. More than 200 people were involved in planning the approximately 680 individual projects.
The extensive work is taking place over the four-day Easter holiday weekend to minimise disruption to passengers and freight.
