IBC honours award winners for 2000
Designer Eugene Figg, the Golden Gate Bridge and the Storrow Drive Bridge in Boston were today presented with awards at the International Bridge Conference in Pittsburgh, USA. Figg won the John A Roebling medal for lifetime achievement in bridge engineering, the Golden Gate Bridge was honoured with the Gustav Lindenthal Medal and the Storrow Drive Bridge won the George S Richardson Medal. The Gustav Lindenthal Medal recognises a bridge built in the last 100 years which has particular aesthetic merit while the George S Richardson medal is for a single, recent, outstanding achievement.
