The centre portion of a dramatic new pedestrian bridge in Singapore was raised to position 37m above ground level at the weekend. It had been built immediately beneath its final location and was lifted in a five-hour operation.

The bridge over Henderson Road is one of two being built as part of a project by the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Signapore to link the parks of the Southern Ridges hills. The scheme also includes an elevated walkway. A public online vote opened on Saturday to choose names for the bridges.
