A footbridge with a 230m-long free span has been completed, crossing the Rhein between Huningue in France and Weil-am-Rhein in Germany. The main support is a double hexagonal tubular steel arch. Another single arch leans against it to the south. The bridge has a 5m-wide steel deck rising 25m above the river. The 1,000t structure was built by Max-Bögl and assembled using Air Liquide Welding processes and products via German subsidiary Oerlikon. The design is by Feichtinger Architectes.
