A 2,650t steel truss was successfully lifted' into place over the weekend as part of the widening of the Huey P Long Bridge in Louisiana, USA.
The bridge was closed for just 39 hours to raise the 161m-long truss 41m up from barges using strand jacks. Work continues securing the new section to the exisiting structure to complete the process.
Contractor for the US$1.2 billion bridge widening is a joint venture of Massman Construction, Traylor Brothers and IHI.
