"We promised we would be ready to go to make the best use of every dollar we receive through the economic recovery act to create jobs and make our highways safer," said Missouri Department of Transportation director Pete Rahn. Missouri will receive approximately US$637 million for road and bridge projects.

The nationwide US$150 billion investment in new infrastructure will involve the USA's largest increase in funding of its roads, bridges and mass transit systems since the creation of the national highway system in the 1950s.
