Missouri Department of Transportation has announced a change to the dates for advertising and opening bids for the new Mississippi River Bridge in St Louis.
The date to begin advertising the project to solicit bids from contractors has been moved from 16 September to 30 October. The bid opening date has been put back from 21 October to 30 November. The delay is to give the department more time to review the use of minority contractors on the project, in response to public concerns.
The additional time will also allow the Illinois Department of Transportation to address land acquisition issues on the Illinois side of the river.
