The 4,000t barge Excalibur has arrived at the site of the new Upper Forth Crossing in Kincardine, Scotland. The bridge is being built by a joint venture of Morgan Est and Vinci Construction for Transport Scotland as part of a US$188 million contract. The existing Kincardine Bridge was temporarily closed to allow the barge to pass underneath as the clearance was just 2m. Excalibur will remain on site for six months, driving piles to form a foundation of 25 piers for the 1.2km bridge.
