More than 10,000 people attended a ceremony yesterday to open a 720m-long bridge that provides the first road crossing between Mozambique and Tanzania.
Mozambique's president Armando Guebuza and the president of Tanzania, Jakaya Kikwete, inaugurated the Unity Bridge over the Rovuma River. The project has cost about US$25 million, split between the two countries.
