Scottish Cabinet approves new Forth crossing
Scotland's Cabinet has today approved a replacement crossing of the Firth of Forth between Fife and Lothian. Ministers consisered three reports submitted by Transport Scotland and agreed in principle that work should continue to produce a final recommendation on the type of crossing, its location and the costs. Transport Scotland's final reports will be completed in May and its final recommendation will then be considered by the Cabinet. No decision has yet been taken on whether the crossing should be a bridge or a tunnel. Three possible corridors have been identified. The project is expected to cost at least US$1.9 billion.
